Monolith CNC Gantry Kit: Monolith CNC Gantry Kit for V2. 4

Product Overview

The LDO Monolith CNC Gantry Kit replaces the stock Voron XY motor-mount, front-idler, XY-joint, and belt-tensioning layout with the CNC-machined Monolith Gantry R1 platform. Separate V2 and VT kits support standard 250, 300, and 350 mm Voron 2.4 or Trident builds.

What It Upgrades

l Replaces the stock Voron XY gantry mount and idler layout.

l Supports either two-motor 2WD or four-motor AWD motion.

l Converts the Y rails to an inward-facing MGN9H carriage layout.

l Adds removable rear belt tensioners and live-shaft idlers.

l Supports a wider 9/10 mm belt path when paired with a compatible toolhead.

Key Features

2WD and AWD Hardware

Each V2 or VT kit contains the CNC mount parts needed for both layouts. Start with 2WD or install four compatible motors for AWD without purchasing another core gantry plate set.

Flipped Monolith Belt Path

The Monolith layout reverses the stock Voron belt orientation to create a shorter, more direct routing path. The toolhead carriage and belt clips must support this orientation; physical fit alone does not confirm compatibility.

Double-Shear Motor Support

Compatible long-shaft steppers pass through an additional bearing support instead of loading the shaft from one side only. A 5 mm shaft at least 37 mm long is required for the documented double-shear arrangement.

Removable Belt Tensioners

The rear tensioner assemblies can be removed while routing and pre-tensioning the belts. This provides clearer access to the toolhead belt path and allows the tensioners to be installed after the initial belt routing is complete.

Compatible Printers

Voron 2.4

l Standard 250, 300, and 350 mm builds.

l Select the V2 kit, SKU LDO-MLG-V2.

l Supports 2WD and AWD assembly.

l The V2 installation uses model-specific hybrid Z-joint parts and may require Z-belt and cable-chain changes.

Voron Trident

l Standard 250, 300, and 350 mm builds.

l Select the VT kit, SKU LDO-MLG-VT.

l Supports 2WD and AWD assembly.

l Rear extrusion position and bracket installation depend on the selected NP or FT layout.

Choose Your Configuration

V2 or VT Kit

Choose V2 for a Voron 2.4 flying-gantry machine. Choose VT for a Voron Trident fixed-gantry machine. The CNC motor-mount parts and supporting hardware are not interchangeable between these two versions.

2WD

Choose 2WD for a stock or lightly modified machine, particularly when using stock panels, a standard 2020 frame, or a printed modular toolhead. It uses the rear motor mounts and CNC front idler assemblies and requires two compatible long-shaft XY steppers.

AWD

Choose AWD when the frame, panels, X rail, toolhead, electronics, and wiring are prepared for a four-motor XY system. It uses the front and rear motor mounts and requires four compatible long-shaft steppers.

NP — No Protrusion

NP moves the relevant mounts and belt path inward to keep the gantry inside the stock frame or panel footprint.

V2 2WD NP: bed size + 7 mm Y overtravel.

V2 AWD NP: bed size + 1 mm Y overtravel.

VT 2WD NP: bed size + 9 mm Y overtravel.

VT AWD NP: bed size + 5 mm Y overtravel.

V2 NP configurations may require the corresponding Z-belt path to be moved inward. VT NP uses the dedicated printed spacers and regular 2020 rear corner brackets.

FT — Full Travel

FT prioritizes Y travel and provides the documented bed size + 13 mm overtravel layout. The motor mounts protrude beyond the standard frame footprint and may require spaced panels, a modified door arrangement, Monolith panels, or 4040 vertical extrusions.

For Trident FT, the stock rear extrusion brackets can be reused by swapping the left and right brackets.

Belt and Toolhead Setup

The supplied motion hardware is based on 9 mm GT2/2GT pulleys. LDO states 9/10 mm belt support, but the usable belt width depends on the selected toolhead carriage and belt clips.

Use a toolhead or carriage with native Monolith belt-path support, or a documented Monolith-compatible belt-clamp solution.

Installation Notes

l Install and route the belts before fitting the rear tensioner parts.

l Use the printable alignment helper to set the drive-pulley height, then verify alignment again after installing the tensioners.

l Confirm that each pulley set screw is secured against the intended shaft surface.

l On V2 NP builds, relocate only the Z-drive and Z-idler pairs required by the chosen front or rear layout.

l The V2 Z-drive pulley is flipped to move the affected Z-belt path 6 mm inward.

l On Trident FT builds, swap the stock rear brackets from left to right. Use regular 2020 corner brackets for the documented NP rear layout.

l Move the gantry slowly through its complete range by hand before powered homing.

l Recheck toolhead, belt-clip, panel, door, leadscrew, and cable clearance at all four corners.

l If using the gantry-mounted X switch, configure the printer to home Y before X.

l On affected Batch 1 kits, do not remove or reposition factory-installed bearing shims. Review the washer guidance before tightening the stepper mounting screws.

See the LDO Monolith CNC Gantry Kit in action. This independent video takes a closer look at its CNC-machined construction, overall design, and upgrade potential for Voron builds.

Is this a complete Monolith upgrade kit?

It includes the CNC gantry parts, bearings, shafts, pulleys, tensioners, and supporting mechanical hardware for the selected V2 or VT version. Belts, motors, printed parts, toolhead components, rails, electronics, wiring, and firmware changes are not included.

Is it compatible with both Voron 2.4 and Trident?

Yes, but they use different kit versions. Select LDO-MLG-V2 for Voron 2.4 or LDO-MLG-VT for Trident; the model-specific CNC mount parts are not interchangeable.

Which build sizes are supported?

The official kit documentation covers standard 250, 300, and 350 mm bed sizes. Custom frame sizes should be checked against the latest CAD and manual before ordering.

Should I build it as 2WD or AWD?

Use 2WD for a stock or lightly modified frame, stock panels, or a printed modular toolhead. Consider AWD only when the frame, panels, X rail, toolhead, electronics, and wiring are prepared for the four-motor layout.

What is the difference between NP and FT?

NP keeps the gantry inside the stock frame or panel footprint but provides less Y overtravel. FT provides the documented bed size + 13 mm Y overtravel layout, but the motor mounts may require spaced panels, a modified door, or 4040 vertical extrusions.

Which motors are required?

The documented double-shear setup requires NEMA 17 motors with a 5 mm shaft at least 37 mm long. LDO 2504 S45R Monolith Edition steppers are the known-good baseline. Use two motors for 2WD or four for AWD.

Are printed parts required?

Yes. The required files depend on the printer and NP/FT layout. V2 builds use printed hybrid Z-joint parts, while NP and FT configurations require their corresponding spacers; mechanical endstop housings and toolhead belt clips may also need to be printed.

Can I reuse my existing toolhead and linear rails?

The Y side requires MGN9H carriages, and compatible existing Y rails may be reused after repositioning them inside the gantry. The toolhead or carriage must support the flipped Monolith belt path, so do not assume a stock carriage is compatible without checking its belt clips, clearances, and travel.
