A Modular Tool-Changing Ecosystem for Voron 2.4

The LDO StealthChanger is a fully modular tool-changing system designed for the Voron 2.4 platform. Originally developed by DraftShift and industrially optimized by LDO, it turns a standard Voron into a scalable, multi-tool automation workhorse.

Core Goals:

  • Enable fully automated tool changing
  • Maintains Voron’s high-speed performance
  • Deliver precise mechanical alignment with magnetic + pin locking
  • Support scalable multi-too setups for 300mm and 350mm builds

The system is built around three key modules:

① Base Kit — Core Mechanism

Forms the foundation of the tool-changing system.

② Tool & Dock Kit — Tool Expansion Units

Defines each individual toolhead and its docking station.

③ Top Hat & Door Buffer Kit — Structural Expansion

Enhances enclosure compatibility, rigidity, and vertical space.

With all three modules, the Voron 2.4 becomes a capable multi‑tool automation platform.

Supported Printers

  • Voron 2.4 (300mm)
  • Voron 2.4 (350mm)

Tool Capacity

  • 300mm build: up to ~5 tools
  • 350mm build: up to ~6 tools

Supported Toolhead Ecosystem

  • StealthBurner
  • DragonBurner
  • RapidBurner
  • Yavoth
  • XOL
  • Archetype series

System Requirements

  • CAN Bus setup is strongly recommended
  • Multi-tool wiring management (USB hub / breakout boards)
  • Front dock reduces available Y/Z build space

What the Community Is Saying

✔ Noticeably higher machining precision compared to typical DIY builds

✔ Tight shuttle pin fit reduces play and improves stability

✔ Flexible tool expansion for multi-material or multi-process workflows

⚠ Front dock reduces usable build space (requires planning)

FAQ

Q1: Do I need all three kits?
Yes, here's how it works:

  • Base Kit (required)
  • Tool &Dock Kit (one per tool)
  • Top Hat & Door Buffer Kit (optional, based on 300mm or 350mm setup)

Q2: Can I start with just the Base Kit?
Yes, but the system won’t be able to print until you add at least one Tool & Dock Kit.

Q3: Is it compatible with standard StealthBurner?
Yes, with a compatible backplate adapter.

Q4: What’s the difference between 300mm and 350mm builds?

  • 350mm: supports more tools (up to ~6)
  • 300m: more compact (up to ~5 tools)

Q5: Does it reduce build volume?
Yes. The front dock reduces Y-axis space by roughly 20mm.

Q6: Is CAN Bus required?
Strongly recommended. Without it, wiring becomes significantly more complex.
